Samsung and Apple arguably are the topmost mobile brands in the macrocosm but are not the top sellers. Their phones are the most expensive and popular but not the most purchased. The cause is simple, most of their phones are flagships which few people in the world can afford.
Huawei, Oppo and Xiaomi are behind Samsung and Apple in terms of smartphone brand popularity. You’ll be surprised to recognize that most of their phones are midrange, in short, budget phones yet they dominate in the world smartphone vendors market.
Huawei made a record revenue of $122 Billion in the year 2019 despite its absence from the U.S. marketplace. This was a record and 18% growth from the previous year.

Per Canalys global market analyst for the 3rd quarter 2019, Huawei had outgrown Apple and was on the brink of taking Samsung from the top. Can it be a coincidence that Huawei was banned by Google the same year the company registered a massive sales appreciation?
Coupled with Samsung and Apple price tag, The company has always seemed like in general, a better value for money and has the best of well-designed phones.

Xiaomi is an emerging smartphone company with most of its products being middle range. They’ve not got a top flagship-like what Apple and Samsung are offering. In their capacity, they’re getting along extremely well.
The difference between them and the likes of Apple and Samsung is, Samsung and Apple focus more on competing with each other flagship product. Xiaomi’s net profit for 2019 hit 3.472 billion yuan ($494 million), a year-on-year increase of 20 percent. This isn’t close to where Samsung and Apple are but what works for them is their power to target lower-level class of consumers.

Apple and Samsung thrive on flagships, which are very expensive and only a few people can afford. Samsung produces middle range smartphones, but the emphasis isn’t much duel on such merchandise. The company put all its attention on their flagships, which make their middle range consumers irrelevant to their course.
Xiaomi has not a single flagship which can vie with the best of Apple or Samsung. For this reason, they attach importance to all. If I can’t afford a $1000 galaxy note 10, perhaps the company may come to my aid with $600 Mi note 10 that offers a close or the same experience in a different brand.
According to Tony Chen, the company is estimated $137.7M of revenue for 2020. A company whose market share solely depends on China and India can only be appreciative of this. Samsung and Apple users will come at Oppo users, claiming their phones don’t last long.
I feel flagships do not in any way last longer than middle-range phones because there are no statistics to back that analogy. In any case, there’s not a single smartphone that has blown over a drop-test. Consider for example Oppo Reno3 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S10. They both are supported 5G phones whose difference will not be significantly noticed on a daily base.
Every year, the case has been the top brands, pricing the phones according to their influence and lower brands, pricing for the benefits of pulling in popularity.
Samsung and Apple will always be pricing their phones according to their popularity and influence in the market. The reason being that they’re already established.
However, Oppo, Xioami and Huawei will continue to do the needful. Trying to win the heart of consumers. They’ll attract smartphone lovers with cheap phones with premium features.
