Apple has announced a cheaper iPhone model, iPhone SE 2. This will be the first the time the company has launched a new phone without one of its ostentatious in-person events amid the Coronavirus pandemic. The online announcement has become needful because most countries remain under lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The new, second-generation iPhone SE carries the same name as the original iPhone SE that launched in 2016. It costs $399, and pre-order begins on Friday and arrive by April 24.
The iPhone SE 2 launching comes at the time most Apple stores have been shut down in most countries. Workers have lost their jobs due to the coronavirus pandemic so it makes sense that Apple introduce a budget phone to make up for the lost profit.
Already in February, Apple warned on revenue guidance for its second quarter, citing weak demand in China as a result of the spread of coronavirus and lower iPhone supplies. However, Apple is optimistic it’ll meet the markets for the new baby.
Since most Apple stores are closed, people aren’t able to try it in person before buying it.
This isn’t going to be a problem. The iPhone SE 2 looks identical to the iPhone 8. It’s also a better phone than the iPhone 8, which until Wednesday, started at $449. The iPhone 8 will be withdrawn due to the arrival of the iPhone SE.
