Popular Ghanaian music producer Appietus has added his voice to the ongoing brawl between rapper Sarkodie and Zapp Mallet.
Bringing to his Twitter page, Appietus noted that there is certainly nothing wrong with comparing music producers regardless of how long they have been in the music industry.
In April 2nd, 2020, sound engineer Zapp Mallet took a jab at Sarkodie for comparing him with producers, he deemed as not his co-equal. Zapp believes he’s been the music old enough to be compared to such music producers.
This was after distinguished music producers Appetites’ and Jay Q took to social media in a live session on Wednesday to celebrate their work from the yesteryear.
Titled #BehindTheHitz, the trend has triggered a social media hum which has seen rapper Sarkodie invite Zapp Mallet, Jay Q, Appietus, Kaywa, Hammer, and MoG to join in the challenge.
The veteran producer, known for the production of several hit songs, including Daasebre Gyamenah’s ‘Kokooko’, Akyeame’s ‘Mesan Aba’ and Kofi B’s ‘Mmobrowa’, said it’s gross disrespectful of Sarkodie to pair him with these producers.
Mr Zapp Mallet entreats Ghanaians to desist from comparing somebody who was churning out hit to people who just started a couple of years back.
But Appietus, who disagreed with this statement wrote that;
“Sarkodie has not disrespected anybody, as music producers and sound engineers our works are always compared by the public and award schemes! If you’ve ever won an award it means you were compared to someone and you won, if you don’t like being compared then return all your awards #BehindDaHitz”.
Zapp mallet had previously called out Sarkodie on twitter to respect him. The celebrated music producer said that it is inappropriate to compare somebody who was churning out hit songs before you [Sarkodie] made kindergarten with your mates who just started a couple of years back.
