WhatsApp is undoubtedly the most popular messaging app in the world with over two billion users. Regardless of its popularity, the app lacks certain features which are found in the less popular apps.
Most messaging apps; like iMessage, Facebook Messenger, and Slack currently allow users to react to a message by selecting an emoji but WhatsApp isn’t supported.
The WhatsApp platform often gets left behind when it comes to these features you’d expect, nonetheless they do get added… eventually.
If you recall, users got the ability to send disappearing photos or videos, long after disappearing messages were added to the app.
The good news is the wait is almost over as WhatsApp will Soon, as spotted by WABetaInfo, reactions with emojis are coming to the app. An image posted on Twitter shows a beta version of WhatsApp on iPhone with emojis below the message.
In a said beta, it’s possible to react to messages with emojis and will display a number to indicate how many reactions there are to that message, which will be more useful in group chats where you can see who reacted with a particular message, picture or video.
Furthermore, if you react to a message and the person who wrote it running an older version of WhatsApp, they’ll see a message asking them that they’ve received a reaction and need to update their WhatsApp app.
WhatsApp is planning on introducing other features such as the new shortcut to stickers that appears to the left-hand side of a word you’re typing when it matches a sticker.
Additionally, privacy settings are being revamped to include ‘My Contacts Except…. — This feature will allow users to let people know their last seen while using the app except for specific people.
