Xiaomi has introduced Mi Air Charger, capable of powering your smartphone remotely across your room. This charging technology was announced on Friday morning, 29th January 2021.
Xiaomi said the “remote charging technology” can charge multiple devices simultaneously and will recharge a smartphone that’s being used, “while walking around or even when something’s in the way”.
How Mi Air Charger works
According to the company, Mi Air Charger/Charging technology is capable of delivering “5W of power” to a single device over a distance of a couple of meters from the “self-developed isolated charging pile”.
This charging pile has 5 phase interference antennas to accurately determine the position of your smartphone.
Xiaomi’s self-developed isolated charging pile has five phase interference antennas built in, which can accurately detect the location of the smartphone. A phase control array composed of 144 antennas transmits millimeter-wide waves directly to the phone through beamforming.
After determining the position, a phase control array composed of 144 antennas transmits millimeter-wide waves through beamforming. The receiving device has a miniaturized antenna array with a built-in “beacon antenna”.
Soon our living room devices, including speakers, desk lamps, and other small smart home products, will all be built upon a wireless power supply design, completely free of wires, making our living rooms truly wireless.
It is not clear when Xiaomi will officially release Mi Air changer. Nonetheless, one thing is being the first company to introduce this technology, it us expected to be expensive.
